No peace at Singha Durbar with disgruntled Madhes

Originally Published on thehimalayantimes.com | Sajha Party central Coordinator Rabindra Mishra today said Singha Durbar could not enjoy peace by making Madhes unhappy.

Speaking at a press meet organised at Golbazaar of Siraha, Mishra said, “The country did away with the Panchyat regime and ushered in democracy. We fought for republic system, but Madhesi people have yet to get their rights.” Mishra recalled that leaders with vested interests betrayed Madhesi people during the Panchayat and democratic dispensations. Some leaders are doing the same now.

Mishra cautioned the public against being provoked by people with vested interests. “In the past people were forced to carry guns. When you shoot others, that does not bother you. But, when guns are targeted at your family members, you feel the pain. How can one be so insensitive?” he questioned.

Mishra said some leaders secured their berths in Singha Durbar through violence, in the name of liberation. “But those youths who actually carried guns during the insurgency period are now toiling in the Gulf countries to provide for their families,” he said.

Mishra charged that some forces were trying to split the Madhes in the name of people’s liberation. “We do not get liberation by splitting the country.  We can develop the country by remaining united,” he said.
